Potato-Based Food Innovation, UYP Secures Funding for the 2026 Kosabangsa Program

Pasuruan – Universitas Yudharta Pasuruan (UYP) has once again achieved an accomplishment in strengthening its community service programs by successfully securing funding through the Kosabangsa Program of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) for the 2026 Fiscal Year.

The funded program is entitled “Podokoyo Food Resilience: Non-Gluten Biscuits Made from Composite Potato Flour for Strengthening Food Security among Residents of Landslide-Prone Areas in Podokoyo Village, Tosari, Pasuruan.”

The program is led by M. Rifa’i, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., with Muh. Aniar Hari Swasono, SP, MP and Ahmad Zulham Fahamsyah Havy, M.Kom. serving as team members. The program is supported by Prof. Dr. Dedin Finatsiyatull Rosida, S.TP., M.Kes. from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur (UPNVJT) as an academic advisor.

The Kosabangsa Program focuses on strengthening food security among the people of Podokoyo Village, Tosari District, Pasuruan Regency, particularly residents living in landslide-prone areas. The innovation developed through the program is non-gluten biscuits made from composite potato flour, which are expected to serve as a nutritious local food alternative while offering potential for development into a community-based flagship product.

The use of potatoes as the primary raw material is an important component of the program, considering that Podokoyo Village is located in a mountainous area with agricultural commodities that can be further developed to support food diversification. Through a food-processing technology approach, local agricultural commodities are not only utilized as fresh food products but are also processed into value-added products.

Beyond food innovation, the program is also designed to strengthen the community’s capacity in food processing, production, packaging, and product development. Therefore, the program is expected not merely to produce biscuit products but also to encourage the development of a more resilient and sustainable local food ecosystem.

The Rector of Universitas Yudharta Pasuruan stated that the achievement of Kosabangsa funding demonstrates UYP’s commitment to developing science and technology that provides tangible benefits to the community.

“The Kosabangsa Program represents Universitas Yudharta Pasuruan’s commitment to delivering innovations that address the needs of the community. We hope this program will have a tangible impact on strengthening food security and improving the welfare of the people of Podokoyo Village.”

He further emphasized that collaboration among universities, communities, and partners is essential to ensure that the innovations developed can be implemented sustainably.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Universitas Yudharta Pasuruan expressed appreciation for the team’s success in securing funding through the 2026 Kosabangsa Program of Kemdiktisaintek.

“We hope this program will not only produce non-gluten biscuit innovations but also strengthen the community’s capacity to transform local potential into value-added products. LPPM will continue to encourage the downstreaming of research and innovations developed by our faculty members so that they can provide direct benefits to the community.”

The Podokoyo Food Resilience Program is expected to serve as a model of community empowerment based on local potential, strengthening food security while creating opportunities for productive economic development in disaster-prone areas.

This achievement further strengthens UYP’s commitment to implementing the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi), particularly through community service programs that emphasize innovation, collaboration, and solutions to real-world local challenges.
