KKN 2026 Orientation II Enhances Leadership Capacity in Scientific and Journalistic Writing
Pasuruan – The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Yudharta University Pasuruan conducted the second orientation session for the 2026 Community Service Program (KKN), specifically designed for KKN group leaders and secretaries, on Wednesday (June 10). The event took place at the Hall Meet Smart Class, 3rd Floor of the Nusantara Building, beginning at 08:00 WIB.
The orientation aimed to enhance
participants’ abilities in writing scientific articles and news reports as part
of the mandatory outputs of KKN 2026. In addition to preparing work programs
for the field, students are also expected to document and publish the results
of their community service activities in a systematic and informative manner.
The first session was delivered
by Dr. Muhammad Nizar, SE.Sy., M.E.I, who discussed scientific article writing.
In his presentation, he explained that scientific articles serve as a form of
academic accountability for community service activities carried out by
students.
"A scientific article
should not merely report activities; it must also demonstrate the process,
outcomes, and impact of the programs implemented within the community,"
he stated.
According to him, students need
to understand the structure of scientific writing, including the introduction,
methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion, to ensure that their articles
meet academic standards.
"Proper documentation of
activities will greatly support the process of writing scientific articles.
Therefore, data and evidence of activities must be collected from the very
beginning of the KKN program," he explained.
The following session was
presented by Zainul Ahwan, S.Sos., M.I.Kom, who discussed news writing
techniques. He emphasized the importance of students' ability to present KKN
activities in the form of engaging, factual, and easily understandable news
reports.
"A good news article must
contain the elements of 5W+1H and be based on facts from the field. Avoid
personal opinions and focus on information that has news value," he
said.
He further explained that
publishing KKN activities through news reports can serve as a means of
showcasing students’ contributions to the wider community while also
strengthening the institution’s positive image.
"Every program
implemented has the potential to become a news story. The task of students is
to present that information accurately, objectively, and in accordance with
journalistic principles," he added.
Through this orientation, KKN
group leaders and secretaries are expected to become key drivers in producing
both academic outputs and publications for their respective groups. The ability
to write scientific articles and news reports is considered an essential
competency for documenting the various community service programs that will be
carried out during KKN.
"KKN is not only about
implementing programs in the community, but also about documenting and
disseminating the outcomes and impacts of those programs through scientific
writing and news reporting," he concluded.
The second orientation session
forms part of a series of preparatory activities designed to strengthen
students’ capacities before they are deployed to their community service
locations. Equipped with scientific and journalistic writing skills, participants
are expected to produce high-quality outputs that benefit both the community
and the institution.
